The Rapiscan 515 is a dual energy, compact X-ray system for space restricted installations. Dual energy imaging provides automatic color coding of materials with different atomic numbers so that screeners can easily identify objects within the parcel. The system is equipped with a removable control panel to facilitate mobility.

The Rapiscan 515 offers a tunnel opening of 640mm (25.2 inches) wide by 430mm (16.9 inches) high.

Threat Image Projection (TIP): TIP inserts digital threat images at configurable frequencies into the regular flow of bags. TIP is a reliable method for continually improving the skill level of screeners and is the preferred training method used by regulatory agencies worldwide.

Network Display Station (NDS): NDS improves threat detection, throughput, and simplifies operating procedures by enabling the operator performing a manual search of suspect bags to reconcile the actual bag contents with the scanned image.

Network Management System (NMS): Allows a supervisor to monitor the performance of many X-ray checkpoints in a large facility from a single location.

Enhanced Performance X-ray (EPX): Enables consistent detection of materials having characteristics of explosives, narcotics, gold, currency and agricultural products.

Operator Training Program (OTP): OTP enables the X-ray system to be used as a training terminal without running parcels.

Dual Energy X-ray systems, like all security equipment, are vulnerable to some categories of threat. High security checkpoints are looking for ways to improve the detection of sheet and plastic explosives. Checkpoint X-ray systems have traditionally required the human operator to detect explosives. Now, Rapiscan Systems and QR Sciences have developed a unique technology that provides automated explosives detection for baggage and parcel inspection. The Rapiscan QXR1000 is an upgrade path to users of Rapiscan X-ray systems.

The Rapiscan QXR1000 utilizes Quadruple Resonance (QR) technology combined with Dual Energy X-ray, Advanced Algorithms and Shield Detection in a single, integrated platform to provide the highest levels of sheet detection available.* The system can enhance any checkpoint in a cost effective and operationally efficient way. Because QR is an upgrade to existing systems, implementation is only a fraction of the cost of alternatives.

The Rapiscan QXR1000 has a tunnel opening of 600mm (23.6 inches) wide by 400mm (15.8 inches) high.

 SPEDS

Security requirements at Government facilities, corporate headquarters, airport lobbies and ticket counters can be met with the use of a low cost small parcel explosive detection system. Rapiscan Systems’ SMALL PARCEL EXPLOSIVE DETECTION SYSTEM (SPEDS) detects explosives in hand-carried items, in particular: portable electronics (such as laptop computers, transistor radios, VCR’s, cameras, etc.), briefcases, small handbags and purses, bottles of liquid, etc. Small or medium size postal packages, large enough to contain pipe bombs or more sophisticated explosives, can also be inspected by the SPEDS.

The SPEDS successfully detects fractions of a kilogram of plastic explosives concealed in a variety of hand-carried luggage. The system is especially sensitive to liquid explosives. The SPEDS can be deployed as either a standalone, or as part of a larger, comprehensive, existing security system (for example, to clear suspicious objects that have alarmed a preceding X-ray system).

The SPEDS is compact enough to move through standard (3’) doors and passenger elevators. It is easily wheeled between different sites. Measurement times are short; they can be fixed (e.g., one minute), or be varied for different backgrounds to achieve a predetermined statistical precision.
